Let's dive in and see what the stars have in store for us in 2023!

Saturn is a slow-moving planet, and it takes approximately 28-30 years to complete one cycle through the zodiac. This means that Saturn spends about 2.5 - 3 years in each astrological sign due to its retrograde pattern.

Saturn is known for its energies of discipline, structure, and responsibility. Generally, Saturn represents the lessons and challenges that we must face in order to grow and mature.

When Saturn transits through Pisces specifically, it brings a focus and weight on spirituality, creativity, and growth. Pisces is a water sign associated with imagination, intuition, and emotion, and is ruled by Jupiter.

A Jupiter-ruled Saturn can help us tap into our inner depths and connect with our higher selves. Saturn in Pisces may encourage us to explore spiritual practices and connect deeper with our innermost feelings and desires.

At the same time, Saturn in Pisces can also bring challenges related to authority, boundaries and self-discipline. Pisces is a sign that can be prone to escapism and avoidance, and Saturn's energies may challenge us to confront and overcome these tendencies. This may require us to set healthy boundaries and practice self-discipline in order to achieve our goals and make progress in our personal growth.

Saturn in Pisces will bring opportunities for us to develop brand new skills and expand our knowledge, as well as to deepen our connections with others and explore our spirituality. However, it may also bring challenges and tests that require us to confront our fears and limitations in order to grow and mature. Saturn loves to respond with "it's too damn bad".

The last times Saturn was in Pisces

You can look back on these dates to get an idea of what to expect when Saturn transits this area of your chart:

  • May 21, 1993, to Jun 30, 1993

  • Jan 28, 1994, to Apr 7, 1996

  • Mar 23, 1964, to Sep 16, 1964

  • Dec 16, 1964, to Mar 3, 1967

  • Feb 14, 1935, to Apr 25, 1937

  • Oct 17, 1937, to Jan 14, 1938

Again, this shift will affect all of us, but the shift will be loudest for Capricorn risings, Aquarius risings, and people with planets or points in the mutable signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces.

Pluto is known for its energies of transformation, power, and rebirth. In astrology, Pluto represents the deep, underlying changes and shifts that take place in our lives, often on a fundamental level.

Pluto is a slow-moving planet, and it takes approximately 248 years to complete one cycle through the zodiac.

〰️♇〰️

Pluto is a slow-moving planet, and it takes approximately 248 years to complete one cycle through the zodiac. 〰️♇〰️

This means that Pluto spends a significant amount of time in each astrological sign, typically around 20-30 years.

When Pluto transits through Aquarius, it brings a focus on societal and technological change, as well as a transformation of collective values and beliefs. Aquarius is an air sign associated with innovation, individuality, and progress, and it can help us think outside the box and embrace new ideas and ways of doing things. Pluto in Aquarius may encourage us to challenge the status quo and embrace a more progressive, forward-thinking mindset.

At the same time, Pluto in Aquarius can also bring challenges related to power dynamics and control. Aquarius is a sign that can be rebellious and resistant to authority, and Pluto's energies may challenge us to confront and overcome these tendencies. This transit may require us to confront power imbalances and let go of unhealthy control dynamics in order to achieve greater autonomy and personal freedom.

3. Mars finally leaves Gemini and enters Cancer on March 25

Mars has been in Gemini for 7 months: from August 20th, 2022 – March 25th, 2023.

Mars is a fast-moving planet that is known for energies of action, passion, and aggression. Mars represents our drive, motivation, and energy, as well as our ability to assert ourselves and pursue our goals.

This is less about the fact that Mars will be in Cancer, and more about the fact that its finally leaving our Gemini houses alone.

During the time when Mars was in Gemini, you may have experienced a focus on communication, learning, and adapting to new situations, as well as challenges in the Gemini house of your chart. This transit may have brought an increase in mental energy, making it a good time to tackle tasks that required mental focus and quick thinking. You may have found yourself more interested in seeking out new information and ideas, and you may have felt more inclined to take on multiple projects at once.

However, it was important to be mindful of not spreading yourself too thin, as the energy of this transit may also have brought a tendency to become scattered or easily distracted. This could have been a good time to focus on organizing your thoughts and setting clear goals. You may also have felt more sociable and open to engaging in intellectual or mental pursuits with others.

When Mars ingresses into Cancer on March 25, it brings relief for our minds, and a focus on emotion, nurturing, and home. Mars in Cancer may encourage us to prioritize our emotional needs and create a sense of security and nurturing in our lives.

At the same time, Mars in Cancer can also bring challenges related to assertiveness and boundaries. Cancer is a sign that can be sensitive and prone to emotional vulnerability, and Mars's energies may challenge us to confront and overcome these tendencies. This transit may require us to set healthy boundaries and assert ourselves in a healthy way, while also being mindful of the needs and feelings of others.

Mars is technically debilitated in Cancer. A debilitated Mars is a Mars that is in a sign that is traditionally considered to be its "fall," or a position in which its energies are weakened or impaired. Mars is a planet that is associated with energy, action, and assertiveness, and its influence can be felt particularly strongly when it is well-placed in the birth chart. However, when Mars is debilitated, its energies may be weakened or impaired, and this can lead to challenges and difficulties in the areas of life associated with Mars.

For example, a debilitated Mars may indicate a lack of energy or drive, a difficulty in taking decisive action, or a tendency to avoid confrontation or assertiveness. This can make it more challenging to pursue one's goals and to assert oneself in the world.

I digress, as Mars passing through Cancer will be a fairly quick transit.

4. First set of eclipses

Eclipses are astronomical events that occur when the Moon or Earth blocks the Sun's light, causing a shadow to be cast on the Earth's surface. In astrology, eclipses are seen as significant events that can bring about major changes and shifts in our lives over the next 6 months.

It may also bring a focus on transformation and letting go of what is no longer serving us in the Scorpio house of our charts.

And this finishes the first Eclipse season of 2023. The next set will be in the Fall.

Sagittarius risings and Pisces risings...

...Are are about to embark on a Venus-ruled next few years! This is very exciting for growth and advancement! The last time Jupiter was in a Jupiter ruled sign was September 2016 - October 2017, when it was in Libra. That time, it was a bit more airy. This time it'll be a bit more physical and material.

Sagittarius and Pisces houses, planets, or points, can expect some Venus or Taurus archetypes to layer on their experiences:

  • June 2010 - June 2011

  • June 1999 - June 2000

  • March 1988 - March 1989

  • April 1976 - April 1977

Again, this shift will affect all of us, but the shift will be loudest for Sagittarius risings, Pisces risings, and people with planets or points in the fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.

Jupiter's Copresence with Uranus

Though the exact Uranus conjunction will not happen until April 2024. Jupiter entering into a co-presence with Uranus in Taurus may bring about an influx of unexpected abundance, or an amplification of the shake ups that Uranus in Taurus have brought to our food and resource structures.

6. Nodes Shift to Aries-Libra Axis July 15

The transiting nodes of the Moon are points in the sky that mark the intersection of the Moon's orbit with the Earth's orbital plane around the Sun. The transiting nodes shift between the Aries-Libra axis approximately every 18 months, and their movement through the zodiac can have a significant impact on our lives and experiences.

The nodes are an important consideration in astrology, as they can indicate areas of life where we are likely to experience significant growth and change via fate and destiny. The North Node represents excess and new things, while the South Node represents letting go and old things.

Briefly speaking, where the North Node transits, you can expect some form of abundance. Where the South node transits, you can expect letting go.

We have been experiencing the North Node abundance in Taurus, and South Node loss in Scorpio for the past 1.5 years.

When the transiting nodes shift into the Aries-Libra axis, it can indicate a time of change and transformation with the themes of self and other, and the transiting nodes moving through this axis may bring up issues related to relationships, balance, and fairness.

Aries is a sign that is associated with self-assertion, leadership, and a strong sense of individuality, and the North Node in Aries may bring about a focus on these areas of life. This may involve a need to step up and take charge, to assert oneself and one's own needs, or to develop a strong sense of personal identity and purpose.

At the same time, the South Node in Libra may indicate a need to let go of or transform the areas of life associated with Libra, such as relationships and balance. This may involve challenges or conflicts in relationships, a need to redefine or reassess relationships, or a sense of imbalance or dissatisfaction in these areas of life.

During this nodal shift, it may be common for people to experience shifts in their relationships and to re-evaluate their values and priorities. It may be a time when people are called to take a more assertive or independent stance in their relationships, or to work on finding a sense of balance and harmony in their lives.

Codependency versus interdependence may also come up as a theme during this time, as people may need to examine the nature of their relationships and whether they are healthy and supportive or imbalanced and unhealthy.

If the nodes are entering your 1st - 7th house axis, you can expect significant changes with your identity and your relationships over the next year and a half.

If the nodes are entering your 4th - 10th house axis, you can expect significant changes with your foundation and your praxis over the next year and a half.

Overall, when the transiting nodes shift into the Aries-Libra axis, it can be a time of change and transformation, particularly in the realm of relationships and personal values. It may encourage people to reassess their priorities and to work on finding a sense of balance and harmony in their lives.

The shift will be felt strongest for the cardinal houses in our charts: Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn.

7. Venus retrograde in Leo (July 22 - September 4)

Venus is a fast-moving planet that is known for its energies of love, relationships, and beauty. Venus represents our values, tastes, and relationships, as well as our ability to express love and appreciation.

Venus retrograde is an astrological phenomenon that occurs when Venus appears to be moving backwards in the sky from the perspective of the Earth. This occurs about once every 18 months, last 40 days and 40 nights, and can have a number of effects on the areas of life associated with Venus, such as relationships, finances, and self-worth.

Per cafeastrology.com:

  1. June 19, 2023, Venus enters pre-retrograde shadow at 12° Leo 12′

  2. July 22, 2023, Venus stations retrograde at 28° Leo 36′ Rx

  3. September 3, 2023, Venus stations direct at 12° Leo 12′

  4. October 7, 2023, Venus leaves post-retrograde shadow at 28° Leo 36′

When a planet is retrograde, it can bring about reversals of fate, circumstance, or delays in achieving our goals. During Venus retrograde, some people may feel as though their plans or will have been disrupted by a larger force. Venus may have had its own plans, but an outside force has caused those plans to change or be put on hold. This can be a time when we feel like we have lost control and that fate is taking over.

Retrograde periods in astrology often symbolize a larger force that interrupts the normal flow or trajectory of the planet's energy. This can be a time when we are faced with plot twists or unexpected developments that are outside of our control. It is a time when the universe may be trying to communicate with us and guide us in a different direction. Retrograde planets take us further inward.

During Venus retrograde, it is possible that the planet may struggle and resist the changes that are being imposed upon it. However, it may also find alignment with the larger force and adapt to the changes that are being brought about. Ultimately, Venus retrograde can be a time of transformation and inner growth, as we are forced to let go of our expectations and adjust to new circumstances.

Venus retrogrades in the sign of Leo, which may bring a recalibration with relationships, self-worth, and creativity. Leo is a fire sign associated with confidence, ego, and self-expression, and connecting deeper with it can help us tap into our creative energy and assert our needs and desires.

At the same time, Venus retrograde in Leo can also bring challenges related to expressing love and appreciation. Leo is a sign that can be ego-centric and prone to drama, and Venus's energies may challenge us to confront and overcome these tendencies. This transit may require us to be more mindful of how we express our love and appreciation for others, as well as to consider whether our values and priorities are in alignment with those of our loved ones.

The fixed signs: Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius, and especially Leo

Taurus risings and Libra risings...

...Will be feeling all of this most extra! Your ruling planet, Venus, goes through a whole cycle, and therefore so do you. During the stations, both July 22 and September 4, volition and vitality will be lessened. You may feel like you are slogging through mud, run down, or overwhelmed during the station periods. The rest of the retrograde won't be like that. But the rest of the retrograde will be significant with a longer cycle at play in your life.

With all this being said, It is important to keep in mind that Venus retrograde is not necessarily a negative or difficult time, but rather a time to focus on inner growth and self-reflection. They are opportunities to sparkle up the house it's retrograding in, because it'll be there longer than usual! By taking the time to process and understand any challenges that may come up during Venus retrograde, we may be able to make positive changes in our financial situation in the long run.
